Presenting itself as the Disneyland of Italian food, or even as the Mecca of Italy’s gastronomy, Cantoro Market is indubitably a real landmark for clients looking for products from the Belpaese, as well as a symbiotic shopping experience with its own tradition. The Cantoro Market store in Plymouth, about 40 kilometers west of Detroit, has been inspired by the shops in Rome, Venice, and Palermo, aiming at recreating the atmosphere, colors, flavors, and availability of fresh food, starting with fruit. It operates on a sales area of over 5,000 square meters, an attached restaurant, and a vast assortment that is continuously enriched with food specialties and wines, directly selected by the owners Michael and John Fallone during their frequent trips to Italy, which is their father Mario’s birthplace.

A wide selection of food products

The cheese counter proposes varieties from each region, as is the case for wines, while the section dedicated to ready meals offers more than 50 dishes that are prepared strictly following Italian recipes. Adjacent hereto is a pasta stand and a bakery where different types of bread, pies, cannoli, and pastries are baked on a daily basis. Notwithstanding its clear focus on traditional Italian specialties, the store also offers a multitude of Italian sounding products that are positioned next to the authentic ones, thus inevitably creating confusion. Barilla, Pietro Coricelli, and Lavazza are the Italian food brands that stand out.
